The area surrounding the apartment:
The Sole apartment is located right in the heart of the historical centre of Rome, in the Rione Monti, the most ancient quarter in the city. Despite its central location, Monti is a safe island of tranquility. You can wander through the vicoletti, or alleys, and admire architectural treasures without the traffic and noise found in much of Rome. The tiny street itself where the Sole Apartment is located represents a cross section of architectural history. You might see a medieval palazzo built on ancient Roman foundations, with a third floor from the Reinaissance and a 1950s concrete roof terrace, a succession of styles that covers 2500 years of history.
Staying at the Sole apartment means having the privilege to live and experience the atmosphere of the most appealing area of the capital and visit on foot its archeological monuments starting from the Roman Forum, to the Colosseum, to the Domus Aurea, to the Trajan markets. Other major sites of Rome such as Piazza Venezia, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna are all within walking distance. The apartment is also very close to Cavour and St. Peters underground stations which provide fast connections to all other Roman districts and the Vatican. The Sole apartment is located on the second floor of a XVIII century building which does NOT have an elevator, but it is well worth the 48 steps you have to walk up as the apartment itself is fantastic and has two amazing terraces!!
